PracticeOne's 2008 Client Conference - a Huge Success!

This year's Client Conference, held in Las Vegas, NV, was the most well attended Conference in PracticeOne history, and the most unique.

The three day Conference began with the Day of Education's detailed overviews and usage sessions on every aspect of the e-Medsys Solutions Suite. Conference Days Two and Three were filled with additional product knowledge presented to the entire group as a whole, then with afternoon breakout sessions focusing on specific areas of system usage and industry information.

All e-Medsys overviews were presented by various members of the PracticeOne staff.

Practice Management presentations were held by Rhonda Elward (VP of PM Development), Debra Lehman (Manager, PracticeOne Training), David Goldwine, (Manager, PracticeOne Support) and by members of these departments including Crystal Nowell, Bianca Pannella, Kristin Kukila, and Jenny Austin.

On the Electronic Health Records side, presentations were conducted by Stephen Dart (VP of EHR Development), Bill Stahl (EHR Implementation Team), and members of the e-Medsys EHR development team including Patrick Grengs. Stephen also announced how e-Medsys EHR is on track for 2008 CCHIT Certification by year's end.

Key moments at the Conference that are anxiously awaited with heightened levels of anticipation happen when new features in the upcoming e-Medsys Updates are demonstrated, and this year's Conference was no exception.

Exciting new e-Medsys enhancements and capabilities were shown and demonstrated, and were greeted by more than a few spontaneous rounds of applause from the e-Medsys users.

The mornings of Days Two and Three also featured two dynamic keynote speakers.

Day One's keynote, "Technology in the Healthcare Industry," was delivered by Mark Anderson of the AC Group (www.acgroup.org). Mr. Anderson is a very well respected authority on the medical industry in general, and who happens to have detailed knowledge on automation's effect on the industry, where the industry is headed in terms of automation, and what physicians and medical administrators need to know regarding automation, industry trends, and so much more.

In one of the afternoon's breakout sessions that same day, Mr. Anderson presented on another subject on which he is an authority: Pay for Performance.

Day Two's keynote, "Automating the Flow of Clinical Information in the EHR," was delivered by Bruce Fisch, MD of Denver Nephrology, a PracticeOne client for almost five years. Dr. Fisch's presentation was on EHR, and how he and Denver Nephrology use e-Medsys EHR to automate their patients' medical and clinical information.

Dr. Fisch's presentation was excellent, from describing how encounters are automated to the issuing of electronic prescriptions, use of the automated superbill, and use of Health Watcher to ensure patient continuity of care, and so much more.

During the Conference, clients took full advantage of our Support Kiosks, where David Goldwine (Manager of Customer Support), Craig Bender (Manager of Technical Services), and members of the PracticeOne Support Team (Kristin Kukila, Patty Colello, and Mark Keister) were able to interact personally with clients having questions on e-Medsys usage.

PracticeOne staff members being able to personally meet and speak with clients, and vice versa, is itself a key aspect of the Conference. David Pack, PracticeOne SVP, took the time during his opening remarks to have every PracticeOne team member personally introduce themselves to the audience.

David pointed out that this year's number of PracticeOne Team members attending the Conference was particularly noteworthy, that in the "old days" there would be a handful of PracticeOne staff members. The 2008 Conference had over thirty PracticeOne staff members in attendance! And of course, the rest of the PracticeOne staff was in place at our offices assisting clients and handling regular daily operations.

Sheryl Miller, PracticeOne SVP of Sales and Business Development, gave an overview on Getting Started with EHR, commenting on the PracticeOne's feature rich e-Medsys EHR and how PracticeOne clients can achieve huge cost savings on the many robust capabilities. As an example, Sheryl briefly reviewed a very dynamic member of the e-Medsys Solutions Suite: the e-Medsys Patient Access Portal, and how the Portal gives patients incredible ability to do much of their own work using secure internet connectivity, without requiring office staff. Sheryl explained how capabilities such as scheduling practice-approved appointments, completing questionnaires in advance of their arrival (no more clipboard), reviewing their account information, and more.

Sheryl also pointed out the company's growth and announced some of the exciting things happening at PracticeOne, including new affiliations that have been established with organizations such as TIPAAA, and new markets in which PracticeOne is involved such as CHC / Rural Health.

Our Conference Gala Reception was held on the evening of Day Two, with special thanks to Emdeon for sponsoring it. The Gala provided a relaxed, casual atmosphere with food and drink, and we thank everyone at Emdeon for its sponsorship.

The post Conference surveys completed by attendees have produced overwhelmingly great reviews on how the Conference was organized, content, and format. The survey also asked for suggestions for next year's Conference location. If you were unable to attend, you can still make your suggestion.

Simply email your thoughts to info@practiceone.com and we will include them in the totals.

Will it be Las Vegas again? That would be fine with us, but it is your Conference.

We look forward to announcing the 2009 location, and seeing you there!
